Anticipation: LSU fans around the world were getting ready.
LSU fans are everywhere. The days preceding the Championship game provided an opportunity for fans worldwide to demonstrate their allegiance to the Tigers. Whether in Iraq or New Orleans, symbols of support added purple and gold texture to the landscape!
Finally, after all of the hoopla, the big game was played in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. There's really no point in posting pictures of the game, or to build any drama around the play-by-play. That's because it wasn't a game; it was a rout! Even though the final score was fairly close, and USC yardage respectable, LSU played all of their subs in the fourth quarter and let Oklahoma save face. This is something LSU had done all year. In one regular-season game, LSU only played their starters for little more than the first quarter. To give you an idea of just how good the Tigers have become in one year, consider the fact that LSU lost to Texas 35-20 in the 2003 Cotton Bowl. Texas lost to Oklahoma 65-13 in their 2003 regular-season game. And then, LSU beat Oklahoma 21-14 in the 2004 Sugar Bowl to win the National Championship! How's that for a success story?
